This week we have been learning more about World War 1.
Our Inquiry statement for the year is:
Learning from our past to lead the future!
E puta ki taiaa tea!
Our question is:
How can we deal with conflict?
We have been finding out about what happened in the war and we read a story about a man called Simpson and his donkey called Duffy. They helped soldiers who had been wounded and took them to the field hospital. It was dangerous work but they were very brave and kept helping the soldiers.
Other animals that were used in the war were carrier pigeons. They carried important messages. We made our own pigeon and we are going to send messages to Room 6 and Room 8.
I really enjoyed looking at your drawings of Simpson and his donkey in your class a few days ago. I think it is a very touching story, and quite sad too. I look forward to reading about what happens when those pigeons take off with their messages!
