Room 6 Week 3 Term 4 2013

Kia ora Whanau! What a great week it has been in Room 6!

We have started our swimming lessons with Riccardo who has coached many great swimmers and is now passing on his knowledge to us in Room 6.

We began by sculling around the pool and gaining confidence in the water.

He is also teaching us about water safety. Thank you Riccardo!

We also had a special treat in our assembly this week. The J Geeks who have performed on New Zealand's Got Talent and overseas, came to do a special performance for us.

We loved it!!!!!!!!

Room 6 Week 2 Term 4 2013

Hi Everyone! What a great week we have had!

We had our first swim in the mobile pool on Monday and found the water was quite warm.

We have assessed where we are with our fitness and have set goals to achieve for next week.

Here we are training:

Star jumps:

Cone run:

Burpies:

Step Ups:

Sit Ups:

We also had three very helpful visitors who spoke to us about training, keeping healthy and maintaining a strongly positive attitude to achieve our goals in life.

Rachel, (nurse) and Kiwi the Kidney who told us about keeping yourself
                                               healthy.
(Vincent won the prize for knowing the answer to a question about the size of your kidney! Well done Vin!)

Dr Sue, (marathon runner), who taught us about getting fit, keeping on trying even when you are tired and training and eating well.

Rob Hewitt, (ex navy diver and survivor of being lost at sea), who taught us about being strong in your spirit and mind as well as your body.

A Big THANKYOU to these people who are great role models for us to learn from!

Room 6 Week 1 Term 4 2013

Kia ora Everyone! Welcome to Term 4 of 2013!

This week we have settled back to our learning in Maths, Reading and Writing and also started a new Inquiry.

Our Inquiry this term is around "How can I be a better me?"
We are looking at all the different things that make us a great person.

We are using the Tapa Wha model to help us.

We also had a visit from the fire service to check if we are Firewise. We remembered everything we learned last term and passed the test!

First we listened to the fire fighters talk about their job.

Then we showed them how to Get down, Get low and Get out fast!

Next we answered and asked questions.

Then we said thank you and we waved goodbye to the fire fighters.
