Room 6 and the Taiaha - Week 6 Term 2 2013

Hi Everyone!
This week Room 6 were very excited to be able to learn some kapa haka moves and learn the names of all the parts of the taiaha.

We were very lucky to work with Matuha Karena and Matuha Shannel. It was awesome!

This week was also our last week for netball training. We learned to do the Ice Cream landing.
We tried hard to land with one foot down first, then the other.

We have begun a new mini inquiry. We have looked at the problems that there are with water. We found out about floods and droughts.
Our question is: How can we make sure there is always enough water for everyone?

Week 5 Term 2 2013

Kia ora whanau!

Even though we only had four learning days this week, we have been busy with netball, experiments and our usual learning of maths, reading and writing.

We are learning a lot of skills from our netball coaches. This week Donna was helping us to improve our chest passes and bounce passes.

First she got us to warm up.

We did a lot of running!

Then we did passes.

We had lots of fun, thank you Donna!

This week we did an experiment to find out which item, out of salt, sugar, flour and pepper, would dissolve first in water.

We found that sugar dissolves the fastest. We are still waiting for the pepper to dissolve.

Week 4 Term 2 2013

Kia ora whanau!

This week we had the opportunity, finally, to walk to the Panmure Basin and look at what is happening with the water there.

We saw evaporation, condensation, and collection. Luckily for us the precipitation did not occur!

We were very grateful to have the seniors from Room 21 come with us. They were awesome caregivers! They also helped us understand what was happening with the water.
THANK YOU ROOM 21!
