We worked very hard to create an amazing assembly! And we had our speech finals too!

The speech finalists from Room 7 were: Lorenzo, Rylee and Acacia. They practised all week, at school and at home, to make their speech interesting for the listeners. Well done finalists!

We performed our Dynamite dance! It was lots of fun and we got all the classes to dance too!

Room 7 week 6 Term 3 2014

Kia Ora Whanau!

This week in Room 7 we have been busy.

First some of the students - Wendy, Fotu, Kaleb and Lei - went to the Auckland Art Gallery in the city to have a dance experience!

We walked around the pictures and saw dancers doing dances in front of the paintings to tell us a story about the art. By Wendy.

We got to lie down and watch the girl walk and dance through the pictures. I liked that the pictures were the same. By Kaleb

One of the best things was when we walked and saw the man singing. I liked the dance where they showed the shapes of the branches that were outside. By Lei.

I liked the boy and the girl dancers. They looked scary with masks on their face. They looked like the picture. It looked like a future picture. By Fotu.

As part of our Inquiry we had a dance workshop with dance teachers from the Pacifica Dance Company. They taught us about making shapes with our body, some hip hop moves and a Sasa.

It was lots of fun and we learned a lot!

Then, on Friday, we had Daffodil Day to raise money for Cancer patients. We wore mufti and brought a gold coin. We raised over $650!

Then the whole school did the Sasa! It was amazing!

What a great effort Sylvia Park School!

Have a good weekend Everyone!

Room 7 Week 2 Term 3 2014

Kia Ora Whanau!

This term we are learning about dance. Our inquiry is called:
STEP UP! STEP OUT! WHY DANCE?

This week we looked at a seated dance by Paris Goebels that remembered Etta James and her song 'I would rather go blind.'

Then we created our own seated dances. Here are some snapshots!

We hope you enjoyed viewing our snapshots.
